As they say on their web-site (www.dasparkhotel.net), the dasparkhotel is conceived and implemented primarily as a hospitality tool! The location is unique: the Rodlpark in Ottensheim where the creek Rodl running into the Danube literally in front of the hotel (they are working on five new hotel tubes in the Bernepark Bottrop-Ebel near Essen, Germany).
The dasparkhotel is constructed from repurposed, robust drain pipes. The interior is composed of full headroom, double bed, storage, light, power, woolly blanket and light cotton sleeping bag. All other hotelery devices (toilets, showers, minibar, cafe, etc) are supplied by the surrounding public space.
The service is available from may to october. The booking could be done online: the guest receive a personal door code to allow entry to a suite.
Because dasparkhotel obtains sanitation, breakfast and other hotel facilities from existing public infrastructure, it is possible to work with the very simple, user-friendly “pay as you wish” system. A night in dasparkhotel costs just as much as you can afford or want to pay.
They say: “We see “pay as you wish” as a system where customers leave a Euro amount that they can afford and with which they wish to support our project.”
